To do so, simply unplug the device(s) for ten seconds and re-connect again.
I am not sure what you mean by 'checking DNS settings'.
The general advice is to change your DNS cache and flush your DNS cache.
I recommend that you change your DNS to OpenDNS or Google's DNS.
Both of these can be done on Windows.
I am simply going to recommend that you back track here and follow these instructions...
1) Boot your PC in safe-mode with networking and launch Steam.
2) After in safe-mode with networking, see if you get any connectivity at all.
In the command prompt enter these commands...
Reboot your PC after that.
Some alternative things to do...
1) Opt into the Steam beta and see if anything changes.
2) Ensure that all the drivers on your PC are up-to-date
3) Ensure that OS is up-to-date and not corrupt.
When I got to netsh int ipv4 reset in the command prompt, it said resetting failed access is denied (I did run cmd as an admin). Same thing with ipv6, the three text files it says is not an executable, command, program or batch file. I typed them exactly as you have above.
Finally, after resetting booting up steam it said failed to connect to steam network, after hitting retry twice, steam finally booted up. Still no connection same problem as before. All drivers are up to date. There are only a few windows updates (I use windows 8.1, upgrading to 10 broke my system before and I had to rollback). Attempting to opt into steam beta yields Fatal Error: steam needs to be online to update. Please confirm network connection and try again. Changing my dns server to Googles did not work either.
After updating windows with the optional minor updates it said we're available, steam still comes up with the same fatal error. I don't know why steam is being restricted access from my internet, nothing is wrong with the registry keys, they're all as they should be. I'd Hate to have to reformat my entire system.
-changed to several different download regions
-turned off my fire wall and restarted steam
-turned off my antivirus and restarted steam
-cleared the steam cache
-reinstalled steam
-restarted my router
-restarted my computer
-updated windows 10
-messed around with config.vdf
-changed proxy settings
I even contacted steam support and they gave me nothing to work with but the same things i've already done. This is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, my games just stopped updating out of nowhere.
EDIT-
My problems are fixed, steam is working normally. Vipes found a solution, I ran Blackbird [www.getblackbird.net] and restarted my computer. That was it. I have windows 10, don't know if it will work for everyone.
I'm in the same boat and steam only works in -tcp mode.
Hey man, what program do you use to edit text? My text editor doesn't show the text in a cascading manner but from left to right...
I have a sort of workaround, but i don't know why this is happening. I installed a wireless network card, and set my phone as a tethering internet connection. I connected with my pc to my phone and everything worked!. So, the problem is somehow related to the internal network card/ip/mac/router/something. Maybe you guys can somehow check it out.
As soon as i switched to my ethernet card, nothing worked anymore.
I'll comment in like 5 mins after I try installing a game.
