FarCry 4 & 3 Signal out of range
So I got a graphics card upgrade this year as well as a new bigger HD monitor. When I first installed these upgrades months ago I went straight to FarCry to see how the graphics looked. Both FarCry 3 and 4 worked fine and it looked beautiful. I'm in the mood to to play through both of them again ,but when I start them up my screen goes black and I get an error saying ,"Signal out of range, change settings to 1440 x 900 -60hz." So I look at my resolution settings and that is EXACTLY what I have set. I can't run either as an administrator so I tried that. I tried alt+enter to go into windowed mode and the black screen and error go away and I can see the menu screen. But the moment I try and press any key on my keyboard or click anything on screen Farcry will go into fullscreen and go back to the black screen with error message. Nothing seems to work.

What resolution was your previous display and what resolution are the games set for? It is in the games that you should switch options to native resolution of your display if not windowed.

I don't have a recent FarCry because I think it is Windows only, so I cannot tell if it pays attention to the usual launch options for source games (I do have non-Steam FarCry 1 & 2 in Win7, which I rarely boot anymore). But if you right click on each game in Steam Library and find where you can set Advanced Launch Options, you might try -windowed or -sw (which does same thing), possibly with a width (-w) and height (-h) in pixels. Then once the game is running set game options to the native resolution of your display, then remove the temporary launch options.

Otherwise post on one of those FarCry game forums where someone may know more about that.

I tried optimizing it with Nvidia. I don't know if that even changes resolutions based on my monitor. I was somehow able to put the game in windowed mode and actually click on things ,but it was like I was on a timer because it'd go back to the full screen randomly and pop the error back up. I looked at the in game resolution and I can't change it. It is stuck on 1440 x 900 - 60hz which is what the error keeps recommending me and it's what i've always runned.
