It's getting way out of hand, 20 messages under 1 minute...
Have you brought it up here? https://steamcommunity.com/groups/communitymoderators
Joining exhaustive group chat is still an integral part of why you may be receiving those messages.
It is NOT just limited to those 'users' exploiting a simple JS script or other applicable exploits.
There has to be an effort on your end to block & report those users.
Avoid certain large groups / group chats.
I am YET to receive one single message from a user that is not on my friends list.
Prudence is a requirement in this.
This is not an issue I or any one else in the community should be troubled by it .
Steam should find a way to fix this/ limit / ban / counter measure botted accounts
What now I need to leave all my fav groups and unfriend all , and not join any thing on steam ...
How is that a solution .
And no i never clicked or got infected ever , im not stupid enough to be click baited by some silly csgo ♥♥♥♥
Point is steam has to deal with this and hopefully they are :P ( Not angry or trying to piss some one off , just making a point )
Counter-measures do exist - I.e for limited users.
No, just the ones that you may seem in common with the users that send you messages.
A previous exploit was reported and addressed.
Valve doesn't fail to comply.
i'd secon that motion.. These bot waves are out of controll... Getting messages every 5 minutes.
I guess nobody else has read any of the posts anywhere including here, tomshardware, reddit, and many other sites informing everyone that the bots are coming from that game, not necessarrily any groups although there are some posts saying it's coming from CS:GO groups too.
I don't have anything related to that grand central station for hackers of a game and I'm not getting any spam or scam. So the only way to possibly stop it is to uninstall any Counter Strike title you have installed and leave all the CS groups you've joined, especially the installation and groups for Global Offensive....until steam produces something that stops it.
Counter Strike games have been like this and had this crap happen since they were first released which is exactly why I avoid them.
Steam plugs up the hole they're getting through, the scammers find another way, steam plugs up that hole, they find another way...it's been endless. And it isn't going to end.
Avoidance is the best form of prevention.
