Can't configure dpad. Steam only detects analog axis.
Hello there,

I have a generic gamepad (a Logitech Precision gamepad, pretty good with fighting games). It's D-Pad only, meaning it doesn't have analog sticks.

The Windows drivers registers the D-Pad as buttons but for some reason Steam Big Picture Mode is only capable of detecting the D-Pad as axis, as in, it only allows me to set either left or right as Axis X and up or down as Axis Y, so I end up with only 2 of the 4 directions configured.

Tl;Dr: Drivers detect Dpad as buttons. Steam detects as axis so I can't configure Dpads.

What's the deal here? Am I missing something or does Steam really force axis on dpads?

Thanks for the help!

Have you found any fixes for this?

Go to steam then settings then controller general settings then check configuration support for the controller.

If you mean "Generic Gamepad Controller Support" then yes, I've done that already.

Map it to left stick instead of dpad.
