Steam profile widescreen support

Only to be sure, there is no way to rearrange my profile over the full width of my widescreen window, right? While the background fills the whole window, the other elements are stuck to 4:3 for some reason.

Is that because there still could be some people playing games on 4:3 pipe monitors?

Not sure what you are saying. 90% of backgrounds are 1920 x 1200.

Sounds like your monitor isn't configured correctly.

Googled steam profile and took the very first picture i found

Can you apprehend to the fact that the major profile elements are in the center while only the picture fills out the borders at the left and right of the wider screen?

Or did that person configure his/her monitor incorrectly aswell?

*shrugs* ok but usually software improves with the advancement of hardware. You need faster computers, faster harddrives, more ram...but for steam, the monitor could basicly still be a vga monitor with 640x480 max resultion and thats ok?

it is a design choice. if the profiles were to fill the screen, where would the backgrounds be seen?

well, it actually like the profile design. i mean the google logo also isn't stretched over the whole site.

Still with big picture steam is optimized to use on TV screens but the default monitor modus is still that..oldschool limited..

At least an option somewhere to rearrange the profile pieces around over the screen could be nice, even though not every background picture supports it, but that could change if the full widescreen modus gets implemented.

Keep in mind that some backgrounds are 1366 and they DO NOT SCALE. Hold on a bit. I will take a screenshot of what I see on your profile from my 1366 laptop screen.

This is what I see. That's my whole screen. Also note that particular counterstrike background that you referenced in your screenshot is a 1366 background. That person is using a 1920 monitor.

Yeah that comes pretty close. It goes in the right direction. Of course the different showcases could be moved and positioned differently, just like apps in the windows 10 startmenu lol somehow.

But to return to the question, its unavailable at this point, right? Its not hidden somewhere in a sub menu of the settings or in some ini file where i have to change a no to a yes or something? ^^

you cant change the profile layout in the way you want to, no.
