[SOLVED] Would like to play on the TV in another room

Got a powerful PC in my study, but I just bought a 4k TV I would like to use as a monitor (different room). I just confirmed that the controller (x360) sends the signal perfectly, so the only issue now is the audio/video. How can I do this without spending money?

If it helps, it's a Samsung UHD TV, so maybe there's a screencast app I can install?

I also have a 2013 Mac Mini I could use, but it's unclear for me the whole Steam streaming. Would it run my PC's library on the mac, duplicate the video (locking both machines), or what?

Or is there another option, that is not the Steam Link (heard only bad things about it)?

Provided your Mac meets the minimum requirements, use In-Home Streaming.

Run and broadcast on PC, decode and output the signal on Mac. It's unlikely either device will be capable of multi-tasking, unless the game is not demanding or you have a really good PC.

Why do you completely disregard any possibility of using the Steam Link? Just hook up the Steam Link via ethernet cable and that way it's not running off of WiFi, which is less reliable

Have you ever used one? Reviews are one thing, but acutally trying something is a whole other thing.

Fact of the matter is, the Steam Link is the best option available to you as what you want is exactly what it is designed to accomplish. And I don't see the necessity of having your solution be entirely wireless.

Your TV is hooked up to power and a video source, which uses a cable. Your router is hooked up via a cable to power, and same with your computer. One ethernet cable running from your router to your Steam Link is not going to have any negative impact unless of course it's a pride thing to "be entirely wireless"
