'your tags'
Is there a way to disable this feature as it is extremely annoying? I like all genres. I don't only play games on steam. I want to see everything. I dont want to be flooded with recommended space games on Monday because I played Stellaris for awhile, then get flooded with software suggestions on Tuesday because i messed around with Sonar for an hour or 2. Along comes Wednesday and the system thinks that all I play is sims because I turned on a simulator.

I can see this feature being handy if you like pigeon holing yourself to one single genre. I however don't like digging thru filtered crap to find new things.

I also think the new changes to the steam store space are just going to bury anything that isn't triple a or trendy. I think we can blame blowhards like totalbiscrap and Jim Loudmouth Sterling to blame for that.

Can't disable them and I'm sure you'd whine even more if Steam just suggested random based on no information what so ever. Seeing that there are a ton of different types of games so you might just end up being suggested mobile games, Japanese Visual novel game, point and click games, early access game, games that are broken and more. Games that I'm sure you would hate seeing on the store page.

You don't need to disable them just goto the main store page then browse all games.

If you still wish to use tags because let's face it you actually probably do, just hover your mouse over 'your store' goto browse recommended tags then switch it to global tags and pick the ones you are interested in.

Tags are mostly use generated anyways, which is why they suggest games based on the ones you actually use.

May I ask how you would like to see the system working then? I'm genuinely interested because I can't think of a better system than the system Valve uses for Steam at the moment.

EDIT: to clarify, I'm wondering if you only want a 'default' system where it doesn't check anything that you've checked or played etc before?

You could browse the Steam store on an external browser that's not logged in I guess. Probably the easiest option. If you normally use Steam in an external browser (which I do recommend), then just get a backup browser and use that for this purpose.

That said, be prepared for Steam to simply recommend the most popular stuff to you if it doesn't know who you are.

As for myself...
1. I rarely browse the Steam store looking for something new to play.
2. On the other hand, aside from declaring a bunch of games Not Interested, I haven't excluded any content or tags. My tag exclusions on the store and the queue are empty, and both the show violent content and show sexual content boxes are checked.
3. If you're interested in unusual indie games, http://playism-games.com/ right now is having a sale. (That is the web store of the publisher of a number of indie games. Many of their games come with Steam keys, though some of them aren't even on Steam and are exclusive to their store.)
