Declining steam gifts

I sent a gift to a friend of mine but he declined it because he didn't want it.
A message told him it was returned to my inventory but nothing is there?
What happened to the gift? Am i just going to be refunded for the purchase or?

With the new system if the person declines the gift you will be refunded.

correct! no more inventory stored games unless you purchase a pack.

Ah thanks for this.
I do find it a bit weird that steam is going with this new system.
If i buy a disc copy of a game, i can sell it later if i wanted on ebay or something.
Not sure why steam is so restricted now.

Not really, even disc based copies use DRM now, so selling those would give someone an unusable copy as the key inside has already been used.

console games also have 1 time use codes for multiplayer games that when a used copy is sold to a place like gamestop, you have to purchase a new key for the multiplayer part also. not every title does this.

Basically. the publishers don't like the used market since it more or less cannibalizes their revenue.

did you buy it from steam or from another site?
if steam, the purchase would be refunded to the method of payment
if another site, you are on your own. take it up with that sites support, they are not allowed to sell steam game gifts.

i cant understand this whole scheme. for example i bought killing floor 1 gift for my friend about half year ago on another site and it was deliver on my acc without any problems so i gave this gift to my friend. today i bought dayz to gave this game to my friend i bought it on the same website but now some kind of computer bot added me in friend in steam and gifts me dayz - how can i understood this stupid situation - i just want make a gift to my friend so i have payed the money declined that stupid gift because i even couldnt accept it because i already have dayz now my purchase is in decline status and i dont understand howi can have my money back or take this gift in my store

I will make it easy for you to understand.

1. The site you used is not authorized to sell steam game gifts
2. If you want a refund, you need to talk to whatever scam site you used. And yes, it was a scam site
3, Steam games no longer create inventory items you can trade/gift. it got abused to much.

if you try to post its name, it will most likely get filtered (do not bypass the filters)
