if you install something on steam on a seperate usb hard drive and you pause the download and close your pc what happens?

So I'm trying to install something that is 200gb (ARK) and I don't want to leave my pc over night on same with my external hdd. But I'm not sure if I can pause the installation and shut down my pc and hdd and turn it back on the next day.

If you don't unplug any of the drives, there might be a chance the download will continue, however using external drives could be iffy, although i have seen posts where others have done it just fine. A quick way to test is to let it download some of the game, shut down, boot back up and see if it continues.

Any percentage would determine that. Again, you're seeing if a download will continue after a shut down and reboot.

Okay so I just installed it to 60% and now it shows it is at 60% however when I clicked resume, it just stopped or it won't resume and it's at 0 bytes out of 44gb. Please help lol

Sorry I did not mention I did this after I paused the installation and turned of my pc and turned it back on the next morning.

I'm sure it isn't since when I paused it and shut my pc off it was at 60%. Or 22gb

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. I just saw this: "Not enough disk space" crap. Then If I clear some space could it still be at 60% because it downloaded 60% files before saying not enough storage. God why does ark have to be 200gb.

And due to its inefficient file structure, patching the game can double the temporarily required space.
