Turning Off Steam's Game Filters
How do I turn off the game filters imposed by Steam? For years Steam has restricted my selection of games to only those I have played previously. Any game that I might remotely be interested in is immediately removed from my viewing list because it is not a game I have ever played before. I find this kind of censorship to be extremely offensive. I want to see the full list of games, regardless of whether I will buy them or not.

I can't say I understand exactly what the problem you're describing is, but here, the full list of games:

Thanks. I can tell that I'm being censored because as Steam loads, just before it implements its game filters, I see games in the Store that never appear on my list of censored games. Then they disappear as soon as the game filters are loaded.

They think they are doing me a service by limiting my choices, where I find it incredibly offensive that they would presume to know my preferences and then limit my game choices based upon that arrogant presumption.

Doesn't sound like censoring. Sounds like your filters have the wrong setting.

Steam is a business. It's best interest is you give you access to AS MANY titles as it can.

Whenever someone else sets the filters they will inevitible get it wrong every time. They think they are providing me a service by limiting my access to only those games which I have purchased before. I would be willing to wager that they never considered that the reason I own those games was because they were the only ones on the list that they provided.

They are hurting themselves and making their customers very angry and they don't even know it. That is just pathetic. If they were really interested in making a profit they wouldn't limit the list of games a customer can see. But they do, so either they are incredibly stupid, or profit is not their motivation.

*They* added filters because your *peers* asked for them.

It's weird that you really think steam wants to stop you specifically from buying as many games as possible.
