Obtaining a refund for a dead game
Not sure if I should list the game but I bought a "Lifetime Premium" package for a game last year and it hasn't been updated since 2016 and the servers have been completely dead for ages. Nobody can login - The purchases were made through Steam, will Steam provide refunds?

From my wallet, it's called "Lifetime Premium" in-game and "unexpired" seem pretty clear.

Transaction ID: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Purchased: Apr 18, 2016 @ 11:58am
Unexpired premium account - $14.99 USD

Total $14.99 USD

Hope you realize the "lifetime" meant is the game. If the game goes down, so does your premium account. That is pretty much standard in any pure online game.

You sound like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lawyer. The devs are onto another game, same concept, same mechanics and they are just soaking more people.

And that is what a lawyer would say to you if you asked them the same things as you did in this thread.

Then don't purchase games made by them anymore.

Usually a lifetime membership means that individuals life, yes, but it also means that if the service goes down, you don't get that membership. And, technically, you still have that unlimited membership, just can't access any of the benefits you got from that purchase. You still have the lifetime membership.

Let this simply be a lesson, you're way too serious over a $15 purchase.

Sorry kiddo, it doesn't work that way. Maybe you don't mind saying "meh" but I do. My time is limited, as is my wallet. If I give YOU my momey on a promise, I expect you to keep it. It might only be $15 but I'll make a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ for them and that company. Nobody mugs me in the street and walks away.

Are you a troll? It doesn't MATTER your position on this, raise hell for them all you want, Steam has no obligation to give you a refund, just because you can't accept that doesn't mean it's not correct. I've bought multiple games in the past that quite literally do not work anymore, server and all, but you don't see me witch hunting. No, I simply told people to report it and moved on with my life.

Grow up.

If their game went under, im pretty sure they have more to worry about than one disgruntled customer. Like where their next rent payment is going to come from...

But good luck with your crusade.

The only promise that was made was that you had a membership for access only for the lifetime of that game.

"If I give YOU my momey on a promise" Why bring your Mom into this? Is that not kinda rude.

A. General Content and Services License

(this is from the second paragraph ↓)
You understand that this Agreement (including applicable Subscription Terms) does not entitle you to future updates, new versions or other enhancements of the Content and Services associated with a particular Subscription, although Valve may choose to provide such updates, etc. in its sole discretion.

The "subscription" in this case referring to games on the storefront

REGISTRATION AS A SUBSCRIBER; APPLICATION OF TERMS TO YOU; YOUR ACCOUNT

B. Subscriptions; Content and Services

As a Subscriber you may obtain access to certain services, software and content available to Subscribers. The Steam client software and any other software, content, and updates you download or access via Steam, including but not limited to Valve or third-party video games and in-game content, and any virtual items you trade, sell or purchase in a Steam Subscription Marketplace are referred to in this Agreement as “Content and Services”; the rights to access and/or use any Contents and Services accessible through Steam are referred to in this Agreement as "Subscriptions."

If you are serious about persuing a refund, as others have already said, you need to take that up with the publisher. Steam outlines pretty clearly that you are not obligated to anything.

im doubtful OP will do any of such, everybody is using the lawsuit as a magical word but never took upon it because they probably puzzle together that using big words over a forum is less risky than actually challenging a perfectly legitimate Tos in a court of Law

Oh I'm pretty positive myself that OP will do nothing. They can make threats all they want, but at the end of the day they are still in the wrong and no one owes them anything. This is outlined in the EULA and even if they wanted to pursue the issue further, it would be laughed at and thrown out.

apart being a very unlikable and rude person, i can tell you have no clue on what you are even talking about.

The fact that you are comparing not being use a software to being mugged is highly odd, not to say ridiculous

Btw OP talking down and belitering people usually isnt something that is endorsed

to be fair while OP is wrong, I have infinitely more respect for people who stand up for their point and back it up with proofs than people like him who just yell at the screen and take this "aint nobody makes a fool of me" tough guy attitude but ultimately just backs out.

If your getting your knickers into this big of a twist then do a charge back and be done with it.
