Someone is Using My Username As A Steam Group

They are using my username and taking donations from it. They even have the same exact spelling as mine. Is this allowed or can I report them?

@Start_Running Anyone If they knew who I was, then they would not called the server itself SolidZone. And they can't use the name because the username was taken, so they used SolidZoneServer instead to bypass the Steam Account Name system and is still calling it SolidZone though the group itself. Usernames are taken everyday, but they should not be used like this. If it's not an impersonation, then it's an identity crisis.

Well, thanks to whoever moved my topic to the right area. But I'm going to do what Jonno says and contact the group admin later today. That's the only best solution and I'll see what happens.

It's not an identity crisis since you and the server have nothing in common.

They are not doing anything malicious to your name and I'm sure they don't even know who you are.

You can contact the groups admin if you want but understand this, they are under no requirment to refuse or accept your request to chance their name.

Just a name they choose randomly for their Servers you don't own the name, if you would be a known personality that someone uses to scam people I could understand but it has nothing to do with you.

Because now unsavory characters have a point of attack to try to compromise your account. You never reveal your username.

1. it really isnt as original as you think. over 300 million steam accounts will produce many of the same names.

2. blocking users will do nothing for forum posting.

Your user name is not special and holds no legal copyright. Anyone can use that name as long as they are not claiming to be you (impersonating).

@The Great Escape ⚔ The problem is that the Steam Group existed only for a month and 10 days, and I found out recently by trying to find my Steam profile though Google. I had this name for 7 years and not even once it was used by other people until recently. If they wanted to use my name, they could have used a different variation like you did with your username despite it being common. If it was taken, then Steam would not let me use it in the first place. You can change the nickname to anything you want, but not the username itself as it's still the name that represents you.

The problem is that they aren't impersonating you, as mentioned already. I don't think this group decided, "Oh, let's steal this guy's username - that should tick him off!"

I have my doubts that they even knew the name was "taken." If it really bothers you this much, I suggest talking to the group owner about it.

Edit: HOWEVER, it would be better if you just let it go. I just can't see where you're coming from on this. It's a simple username.
