Can I force Steam to use more Bandwidth?
Hello all, I am currently deployed and using a public wifi network. When I open my network resource moniter, I can see that the total banwith is about 6-8Mbps. After running a speed test on Speedtest.net, it was reading about 2Mbps. However Steam is downloading only at around 800Kbps.. The only way that I am aware of that you can increase download speed is by changing the download reigon in the Steam settings (which I have already done). Are there any ways that I can force Steam to use more of my available bandwidth? Thanks for any replies!

speedtests and network speeds are shown in megaBITS

Steam shows your download speed (by default) in BYTES.. megaBYTES or in your case kiloBYTES.

2 megabits = 250 kilobytes
6 megabits = 750 kilobytes
8 megabits = 1000 kilobytes

Steam is indeed using up ALL the available bandwidth you have already
If you want to make Steam show you your download speeds in the same format as the speedtests (so in BITS instead of BYTES)

go to the tippy top where it says Steam - View - Friends - Games - Help
Pick Steam..
Then Settings
Then Downloads
Then near the bottom there is a checkbox that says "Display download rates in bits per second"

That way the speed conversation won't confuse you.
