If i refund a game and it's still installed what happens?
Hi so straight to the point:

If i bought a game but then decided to get a refund, i met the requirements for a refund and simply to get rid of set game, but for some reason i choose to keep it installed until it gets refunded, will steam completely uninstall it or will the game files remain?

If the file stays, i think that could be dangerous as a person could simply look for a cracked exe and start playing for free, so does steam completely get rid of the game? Possibly end up getting the files of several games with the money they used to buy one.

This question is entirely out of curiosity, i'm not a fan of pirates or pirating.

It stays installed and visible in your library until you uninstall it. But you can't launch it.

They remain until the game files are deleted. You won't be able to launch it because the button changes to "Buy" instead of "Play".
I think thats kinda bad, as it could lead to a person buying several games for the price of one and copying the files somewhere else. Idk do they still have access or something or is this where torrents come from?

The idea is, the number of customers Steam loses due to people thinking "Cool, I can abuse this instead of spending money!" is less than the amount of customers Steam gains by having the refund policy.
Can you explain further? I dont entirely understand.

People who are determined to pirate games will find a way to do so, with or without the refund policy. So Valve doesn't have much reason to be concerned about people abusing refunds for that.

However, other people will be more likely to purchase games on Steam because the refund policy is much better than the old "Nope, no refunds no matter what, all purchases are final" policy.
Oh okay i get it, i still think there should be a force uninstall but i guess it makes sense. Thanks.
