multiplayer, one account
I would like to play multiplayer with my son on a couple of games I own on steam. Specifically, Titan Quest Anniversary Edition and Grim Dawn. Do I need to own 2 copies of the game? If so, can I do so under only my account? I do not really want to make another account for duplicate games. Or, and I haven't tried this yet myself, can I use a single copy on multiple computers?

You need to have a second account with 1 copy of the game puchased for each one.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks.

As said. You need 2 separate Steam accounts and you need to buy the game for every account itself.

So, with that being said, I decided to probably make another account. I want to be in control of this account. When I went to make another account, the dialog box said specifically to not make another account if you already have one. I do not wish for my son to have the account (and he does not have an email address/social presence). I would like to use the email address (if it is required) that I had used for my first account. Will this be allowed? Is it a bad idea? Does it break the user agreement? Might it put either account at risk of deletion or similar penalty?

Are you sure? Many people have more than one account. I have 3. Steam lets you use the same email. phone number and mobile authenticator for multiple accounts.

I was pretty sure about what the box said. I wasn't exactly sure why other than possibly some cheating(?) issues. It did not stop me from creating another account. I just did not want to make another one without some assurances that it would not cause problems doing so.

So you can create a new account and enable "family view" via the settings. You can enter a code (4 Numbers) and "lock" the account so that your son only can start the game (accept friends, go online, ...) if you entered the code.

Thanks for the help. I really appreciate it.

Do I need to start a whole new account or can I create it from my current account?
