Intertnet speed - 50 Mbps, Steam downlaod speed - 1-3 MB !!

As the title suggests, I have recently joined EE fibre optic plan, speed tests suggest between 50-60 Mbps however steam is only downloading at 1-3 MBs.

Has anyone else experienced this issue or know of ways to maximise steams download speed ?

i was downloading at my peak rate about 10 minutes ago (1.6Mbps) now at 50% of the download it's down to 8-10Kbps I guess it's on steam's end, everything else works fine

yeah, had the same pb here, yet i can't DL anything, you think it's steam's side?

Yeah its steam side cause I just downlaoded a GB size file off chrome and did it crazy quick, a 3GB game on steam is taking 30 - 40 mins

Its Steam Sale. Millions of users try to download their just bought games at once.
The servers always slow down a lot during those 2 weeks. Try to change download region in the client settings. Sometimes it helps choosing a region where its night currently and not as many users are online.

same for me 165kb/s speed and on a Speedtest i get 72.62 Mbps

i guess its best to just wait

Im struggling to download for 2-3 hours a 40gb game that would usualy download within 15-20 minutes. The only thing we can do is to change region every 5 minutes ( or less ) because the download speed will drop after a few minutes, just repeat this process until your download is done. Its pathetic that we have to do this but still better than waiting days/weeks to download at its speed.

on the Japan server im having nice fast downloads

tried all other european ones , only the JP one is fast for me

The download speed seems like its fixed now. Hasnt dropped once in the past 15-20 min.

I had the same problem and changing my steam download region to west africa fixed it :D
