my steam username is correct and the system tells me it's not

I forgot my account password and when i try to recover it, it says "The email address or phone number you entered is invalid. Please try again." It's correct I tried another account and it's the same so can someone explain?

Profile name and user (account) name are not the same. When logging in are you trying to do so with the profile name (Nothing)?

I don't remember the profile name it's an old account or maybe it has no profile so the only thing i can do to help to recover it is the username I think it's a problem from steam itself

All accounts always had an private account name and a public profile name.

And no, from the sounds of it, it is a YOU-problem, not a STEAM-problem.

You are right ,but how can it be my problem If i try to recover the account by a correct username and it doesn't work

Chances are you are still confusing things.

When you create your account, you choose a login name. That login name is not visible to anyone other than yourself, and it's what you use for login. If you click the menu in the upper right, you'll see an entry "Log out of account ... " -- that's where you can see your login name. Likewise, going to account details will also show your login name.

Your profile name is the one that users see. You can change whenever you want, and it has no meaning to Steam; it's ONLY used as a name that's shown to other users.

Yes what i'm talking about is the username not visible to people the private one to login steam so

basically to send a ticket to support the system should recognize my username is right I tried with other accounts all of them the same not even with VPN from both the steam site and the app so I have no idea what is that problem

Most problems are that people remember their username wrong, think it is the name on their profile or did write it differently back then either by will or accident.

already did that I checked my mail messages to be sure and I found the same username as i remember

Again, use the accountname. Not your user/profile name.
