Being able to alt tab a game to check recording without game crashing.
The game is Unavowed. I am really enjoying it so far and am recording my game play. However sometimes the program I use ((OBS)) just doesn't work. It's not often but it happens. Therefore I always to a test right after I start the recording using hotkeys with the game up on the screen. However when I alt tab the game check the test and bring the game back up, it crashes and cuts itself off. Sometimes it doesn't and works fine when I bring the game back up but my last several attempts have ended with the game crashing.

What I am looking for is a way around this. Maybe ideas for a different method of checking to be sure it's recording or pretty much anything that can help me out. Thank you.

Try running the game in Borderless Windowed mode (you should find that in Video settings of the game)

If game doesn't support Borderless Windowed mode by default, you can use program Borderless Gaming to force game to run in Borderless Windowed mode.

To many things can cause this. pc spec and RAM to have enough of it, most crash is because system dump it on the viratual ram ( harddisk ) and then you task in and out, you move Focus away from Task not all app like that. ( but thats the general idea ) without spec and is all driver and bios update at Brand support page. ( some ppl do OC, even that can be a isssue if it create Bottleneck in Resources its actual a complicated issue.

other old ways is allocating more Resoureces to background task ( most games dont want that )
but its here you are not a gamer only. ( i think it was in windows advance system settings )

also be sure in the BIOS you dont have turbo ram enable, that was cause of alot of issue on older pc ( its actual a OC RAM boost ) and yeah work fine for years but whatever happend down the road cause memory to fail leak or it dont refrech as it should so app crash. )
and that was actual default in the BIOS , after i change it to standard ram clock, all my problem goes away, so yeah its not that simple always. to ID what the hell is going on.
