How do I disable the dumb heart filter?
I think that I won't get a heart attack by seeing them,or irreversible brain damage,or anything like that.

Steam literally allows games where you pull out someone's spine or other things, but doesn't allow the user to see swear words

One has to purchase those games while using Steam does not require a purchase. Steam is also within their rights to censor as it sees fit within their platform.

Minors aren’t exposed to the former unless explicitly stated in their store preferences; whereas the same minors can still be exposed to what you type in any other community sector regardless of their age, so you can’t make a logical implication between the two.

Games have age restrictions on them whereas the platform is open to everybody. Besides, the overwhelming majority of users don't want to see relentless profanity spread by edgy kids.

Because those games receive ratings that are SUPPOSED to guide who purchases/plays them. You can't rate what someone is going to post on a publicly visible platform which in itself does not have an age limit for using.

I mean,it's an option, just add the age check like steam usually does with "mature content" and it'll be fine,no one is forced to use it

Profanity is not really mature content if it was to be used in the Steam forums - more like immature behaviour. The majority of adults don't want to see that especially if it's used by squabbling or toxic children. Let's keep the forums as clean as possible and if you see hearts, just use your imagination.

Also, it should be pointed out, It doesn't just hide "bad" words - the hearts also mask third party site names that are shady as hell like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (and yes this is just an example, I knew it would get hit with the heart hammer.)

While they do that, they don't want people on the forum swearing. Honestly Steam forums would be far worse if everyone was swearing.

But everyone has to obey the rules, they say "Do not post: Abusive language, including swearing" just to mentione one thing.
Allowing people to disable the filter would be the same as saying "It's ok to break the rules" we would see an increase in abusive language, because all the "1337" and "Edgy" people, would disable that filter and start swearing like a bunch of drunken sailors.

If you had searched before posting you would know all the reasons why it's a bad idea and probably never will happen.

Leave the filter as it is, It's fine as it is imo. If someone can't live without all these abusive words, there is a ton of forums and websites on the internet with that kind of language.
