Suddenly steam voice cannot connect, at all
Hi there,


My friends and I have been using steam chat for many months to play in a group. We are also used to Steam going down for brief maintenance every Tuesday. However, after the brief Tuesday maintenance downtime today, when we went back on, my voice chat was no longer to connect to any chat whatsoever. If I try to create a voice channel in a chat room, I get the "Reconnecting..." icon, and I can't initiate or accept direct calls from other users either.

Per the below logs, WebRTC is apparently not able to get a signal out when trying to initiate Steam chat. I have:

1. ensured the appropriate ports are forwarded in my router.
2. reinstalled Steam
3. reinstalled all network drivers with a reset to factory settings
4. inspected all Windows Firewall settings, including a test with the firewall entirely disabled to rule it out
5. spent hours scouring Google and these forums for other ideas on how to fix it, and trying different things, all to no avail.

People seem to get struck with this issue semi-regularly and many of them don't ever seem to get a fix.

It was working just fine for months, years even, right up until the downtime a few hours ago, and that completely disabled it. During lockdown I've been using it for hours every day. Now out of the blue it doesn't work at all and I'm out of ideas on things to try to fix it. Any insight? Here's my voice log output.

I am having the same problems.. for some reason today just out of the blue it stop working and i cannot find a solution anywhere.

Same issue here. My log output is similar to the ones already posted.

Anyone know any work-arounds or fixes?

Confirmed. As soon as I try to initiate voice chat, it just keeps trying to reconnect. Same audio devices, same network settings, nothing has been changed since the last time it was working.

Thank god for this post, I thought updating the audio drivers 2 days ago messed it up, instead it was Steam's problem.
