PC won't recognize PS4 controller

For whatever reason, I can't seem to get my Dual Shock 4 controller to pair up with my PC when plugged in. I simply get a single yellow light that fades. I've restarted my PC a few times to see if that works, no luck there. I've tried to enable it in my devices but nothing seems to change.

I had an issue not long ago when I couldn't get Owlboy to read my controller despite other games being able to, and making a change that I for the life of me can't remember what I did. Up until my most recent Windows update it was functioning, now it's not, and I have no idea now how to fix it. Please help.

My problem seems to be the USB port on my PS4 controller apparently. Looks like it got a bit loose after using it wired on PC for so long.

Just fixed this!

I went to Hardware & Sound -> Devices and Printers -> Right click Wireless controller -> Hardware -> Double click controller -> Change Settings -> Driver -> and clicked "Roll back driver" and it suddenly started working again.

Thanks, this solved the problem for me (that is, the device manager solution did)
Though one of my controllers was working perfectly on my computer, however the rest dont. either way -- thanks for helping

Applying extra pressure to the micro-usb slot in the controller when plugging in the cable worked for me.

Sorry to post in a old topic, but... I have the same issue than the post's autor: My PS4 controller doesn't even get recognized by Windows. When I go to Devices and Printers, the "Wireless Controller" is there. But, when I right click and go to "Game Controller Settings", it's not there. None controller is listed...

I tried to remove de device, reinstall the drivers HID and bluetooth... Nothing is working. And the same controller in other Windows in my PC it does work.

Same problem here (on Win10) : For some obscure reason the controller driver was not detected anymore (when I plugged it in, I had the Windows sound telling me that it is detected, but neither DS4 Windows nor Steam Big Picture could be able to work with the controller). I solved it by going to "Bluetooth and other devices settings", then under the "Other devices" block, I could see "Wireless Controller - Driver error". I clicked on it -> "Remove device", and unplugged-plugged again the controller. That solved it !

hey guys, here to disturb this topic with the same problem. Literally nothing i've seen on the internet has worked. I've tried everything I can think and I even made a reddit post on r/techsupport to no avail. Basically, grasping at straws just hoping one of you can help a brother out.

Anyone found a solution to this yet? It's driving me bloody insane D: everything I've tried so far does not work. Windows seems to detect the controller as a 'wireless controller# even when its wired up via a USB cable and neither PS4 remote play, steam, input mapper or DS4 windows detect the controller.

I don't know the solution yet, but it's working great now. The only thing that I did was to connect the controller in another computer using bluetooth. Then, later on, I connected in my computer once more and worked... But my problem was slightly different from yours cause my controller didn't get detected in Windows, not even as Wireless Controller...
