VAC ban on non VAC enabled games?
Hi

I browsed the steam shop with the "VAC enabled" restriction, so that I would find all the games with that system running. It should be logical then that if I cheat on another game, I can't get a VAC ban, be it single player or multiplayer.

But I'm not sure...

I'd like to change some game files in a game (Outlast), so that I can explore the map better and not be bothered by enemies all the time. But not at the cost of a nice red mark on my profile.

I'm 95% sure that's fine, but I'd like 100%. Anyone know?

Nope, not possible. The developers could still be using their own anti-cheat systems though, thus resulting in a game ban.

No, you 100% won't get VAC banned.

VAC only works on multiplayer games. Outlast is 100% Singleplayer. So there's no way to get banned.

Anyway, there is a notification if a game uses VAC on the storepage. The Outlast games and their DLC lack such a notification.

Game Bans exist and they work the same as VAC bans in terms of punishment https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=6899-IOSK-9514

These have greater scope than just cheating too. You'll be fine on single player games but don't think just because a multiplayer game isn't VAC secured the developers wont ban or don't have their own anti-cheat available to them. Some even issue game bans for cheating achievements.

Outlast doesn't have anything like that.
