But I'm not 100% sure the reason why your games won't use your GPU.
Yesterday I was getting 1fps on shadow of Mordor.. today it’s fine. So strange.
Build..
gigabyte z370 ultra gaming mobo
Intel 8700k
EVGA 1080ti FTW
16gb ddr4 ram
Is have saved steam on my ssd c drive but I save my pc games on my d drive. It’s not been a problem before.. could it be that?
Also as I have changed my mobo I need to re activate windows.. it’s currently un activated as I need to get my activation key from work next week, could it also be that?
Many thanks.
2. What you just explain sounds like one of the possible issues.
A. You plug your display cable from your monitor to your desktop into the wrong port. Which is using your iGPU, instead of your dedicated GPU.
Ensure you plug your display cable to your GPU, not your motherboard, or else it won't use your GPU.

B. You have bad driver install, download DDU display device uninstaller, boot in Windows safe mode, and use only the recommended setting, then install your latest video driver, or older drivers that you know that works.
C. Overheating, or too much process being run at the same time.
I'm very sure it's option A.
I suggest redoing your video drivers, download DDU "Display Device Uninstaller", download your latest, or older video driver that you know that works, then run the DDU in Windows safemode, and use the recommended settings, and then install your Video driver.
