Is this a scam, Need help ASAP for a friend.
So my friend is talking to someone who is saying he's a steam mod and is providing "facts" that he is, pictures and stuff so I'm not sure if mods and admins or employes contact users through the steam messaging app and using /code when chatting which is weird.

So Imma add a few details here I need a little help to figure it out if he's legit or I should report him now.

He sent him this,

So I figured he isn't who he says for sure as, he says he is an employe, named Matthew An.
and this is his steam profile, https://steamrep.com/search?q=https%3A%2F%2Fsteamcommunity.com%2Fid%2Fanster

Which has an VALVe rep,
while his profile is
https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561199062220699 and in the steam rep its
https://steamrep.com/search?q=aanssterrr
pretty much non.

My friend said his friend reported him as fraudlant which is strange.

So need help ASAP!

If any Steam profiles contact someone regarding reports or their account, they must be reported immediately as this is the baseline for a scam.

Obvious and really, really old scam. Report the accounts involved, block them and move on.

This scammer is getting around. We had a hit from that profile earlier. Report and move on.

Anyway, just for future info: Steamrep is pointless and will tell you nothing of importance at the end of the day. Scammers use stolen accounts.

It's a good thing you asked before doing anything else.

This is a basic old scam, they make fake gifs, fake images, copy people profiles, and try trick people into giving them items, or money.

Couple advice:
- There's no such thing of incoming bans. Even if someone make a mistake report, real support ignores those reports if they're fales reports that's a fact. What happens is the person making Fales reports may face the consequences from real support for spamming false reports.

- There's no such thing of item duplication. This is another old scam they try to scare people into believing. If anyone contact you claiming you committed fruad that's also another scam attempt as well.

- Support will never contact you, unless you contact them by ticket only, and they will never do friend chat, forum, profile comments, or anything outside of Steam period, everything is in ticket only.
