Steam keeps saying "The SMS code is incorrect" even though it isn't
I have been trying to hook up my new phone (with my same number as my old phone) and it keeps saying my SMS code is incorrect while it is because its the code being sent to me.

And yes, my phone and computer are both matched to the right time. That doesn't fix crap.

Are you doing it this way...?

Can I transfer my authenticator to my new phone?

Yes, you can.

To transfer your authenticator to a new phone, you'll need access to the phone number associated with your account (so we can send you a text message to confirm it's you).

From the Steam Mobile app on your new device, try to log into your account. When the app asks for your authenticator code, select "Please help, I no longer have access to my Mobile Authenticator codes." Follow the steps the app provides and you can either transfer your authenticator to the new device or remove it from the previous device.

If you did it the way it said in the linked article, you wouldn't have this issue.

Haha, the "works on my machine :^)" excuse. Funny.
It doesn't show that option for me.

Read my post again. That is not what I was saying.

What you are trying to do will make it so your account will have 15 day restrictions on trading and listing items on the market.

Did you disable/remove Steam guard in your account settings? If not, I advise you to do what I linked previously.

If you do not have access to the other phone, you must disable/remove guard in the settings before you proceed. It is asking for the code from the previous mobile app on the other phone.
It is the reset code that is in the big red box. It's the one that says write down for future use incase it is need for removal.
This is the code you need.

This kept happening to me.

I ended up logging into a computer or phone but open new tab as it keeps diverting to the app.

went into account details, manage my steamguard, deauthorise all devices and it worked.

Before that try remove authenticator if you have that option at the top.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
