X = represents the architecture numbering this is incrmented for each new architecture. Higher architectures do not necessarily mean better performance compared to previous architectures.
Y = represents the major differentiator in performance the higher this number the better the performance within the architecture
X = represents sub-categories usually for slight performance increases
Also note that laptop versions of GPUs perform significantly WORSE than the equivalent counterparts on desktop GPUs.

You are getting about what performance could be expected out of that GPU.
