Can't comment on Steam Workshop items?

When I look at the comments, the place where I write my own comment is not even there. I don't know what to do and I can't seem to find a proper solution.

No, I don't have a limited account because I spent more than $5 dollars already.

I can't rate workshop items of games that I don't own, maybe comments are the same. Do you own the game of that workshop item you are trying to comment on?

The account I'm on right now doesn't, but I have an other account that has a lot more games on there. However I feel whether I own the game or not shouldn't affect my ability to comment as I can still remember commenting on a workshop item of a game that I didn't own (Left 4 Dead 2).

I've just checked. The two workshops of games I own that I tried seems to allow me to comment just fine, whilst games on my other account don't.

Some games' items cannot be rated or commented unless you own the game on the account. Those are probably the same games that won't allow you to post on their forums unless you own the games on the posting account. I know for sure PUBG is one of them, I cannot post there since I don't own it.

This was extremely insightful! I wasn't aware of this and was getting pretty frustrated, haha. I share my boyfriend's library through the family share thing, so I don't personally own most of the games I currently play. Thanks!

I can't write a review at all, for a game I actually do own. I've tried several times. I typed the review out (thankfully I copied it to a notepad window before clicking the button) and I push the "Post Review" button and..... the button disappears and nothing happens. I check the store page, and nope. Empty window.

So I tried it there and same thing. the button just disappears.

I've owned the game since yesterday.

I seem to have this issue as well, my account is in good standing and it's not limited, and yet I cannot comment on workshop items on a game I do infact own.

That would explain why I can’t comment on specific items in the Ark workshop even though I own the game (and I’ve spent hundreds on the Steam store), but that doesn’t really explain why other people are still able to comment but I can’t? Unless every single person who’s been able to comment is actually friends with the person who created the item? I made a mod showcase video highlighting a map someone made and I was going to leave a comment telling them that I did (and I HAVE left a comment on this map when it was first uploaded), but the comment box isn’t even there

Yeah same for me... I think for me its because I don't own the game I wanna post a comment on for the steam workshop... Well, I borrow items from my brother for some reason it like auto lets me borrow it so I can play his games but I'm not sure about comment on workshop items for that game if you borrow it.
