CPU Cooler Backplate?
So this is my first computer build and upon installing the CPU (I took it from another computer if that matters) I place the fan on top of the cpu and line it up with the holes but quickly realise that there are no threads in the holes. Upon looking it up it turns out i need a backplate of some sorts but i have no idea what kind i would need, or if itd be better just to get a new Sink and fan. This is my MOBO - https://us.msi.com/Motherboard/H110M-ECO.html and my Cooler is just a basic intel cooler off of the same computer I took the CPU. Thank you.

You need a cooler that is good for the motherboard and the new cpu.
They usually come with all elements that are needed then.
Also make sure to watch a video about how to do it.
Better more than one.
When buying s new cpu Make sure you get one thats NOT a (K) version otherwise there is no stock cooler included. So make sure if you buy a new cpu you get one that does NOT have the K in the name.

I saw a post on a forum that said zip ties could work to secure it if done right. Would you recommend

Um no but it will look terrible especially if you have a case with a window side panel.

Not sure you want it to look like that lol.

If you have space, just get a Hyper 212 EVO. Box should have everything you need to mount.

Measure if it'll fit first.

To note that zip ties are only meant for cable management despite case improvements over the last few years to hide them out of sight.

No.
Thats why i said, better watch more than one. To filter out such strange ideas.

A cooler doesnt cost that much. You dont need the expensive high end super silent whatever.

Get one with big fan. Sideblower is best. Dont do stunts.

Maybe start with telling what tdp your cpu has.

A basic Intel cooler has a push down and twist system that snaps it into place, it doesn't need thread or a backplate.
