Lots of random users in steam userdata?

In my steam installation folder, in the folder "userdata," there's a bunch of random users that I do not recognize. The folders are named steamid3's. I only recognize a few of them as mine and my friends accounts that I have logged into before. I have no idea how the other userdata's got into my userdata folder. Is this normal or like wha? As far as I know, the only way to add a folder into userdata is to log in as that user. I know for a fact that I have never logged in as those users listed above. Also, there's a bunch of folders that have a inventorymsgcache folder in them, but based on the name, I would believe that it simply contains images sent to me by traders of their inventory items. I do want to confirm tho

No, but I dont think it was really a problem, hasn't really affected me in any way I can tell

I found out the same thing. Found a random account in my userdata folder when I tried to auto categorize my library with depressurizer software. Its showed up in select user list, so I check my userdata folder. That ID folder's date modified value is same as the day I tried to log into one of the account which I didn't remember the login name of and entered wrong login name once.
I also thought it could be that it was showing me the ID of the developer of depressurizer. IDK, I've submitted a steam support ticket, lets see.

Same here. I just discovered from the year 2013. Nothing in it. It appears to be automatically created a few days ago my Steam profile was created. Really weird. Is it a malicious activity or Valve has messed up accounts?

Do a backup and delete them if it causes concern.

Hello, can this unknown account folder in userdata be caused by a login attempt of us due to mistyping the username on those days? Is Steam creating the unknown Steam ID (mistyped username) folder before login?

I just tried with recent version of Steam, and the behaviour wasn't produced, no any folder is created in userdata when trying to attempt to login with wrong username.

Hi mate.
I read your post and I had very similar problem a few years ago but discovered new. Before successfully logging into my own real Steam account, I found a "strange" and random user account ID in userdata folder of someone else and its folder modified date value is before the date of my own account login. I have no body except me using my computer and I have no any other accounts or family share stuff etc.

Based on your info, it appears to be a bug in Steam Client which I want to beleive, and would be creating those strange folder IDs when you're trying to login with someone else's credentials either because of mistyping or forgetting your own username. Other than this I found some posts that some pirated games would create such strange folders with someone else's account ID, but as long as I don't have any pirated game it should not be the case?

Have you ever got a reply from Steam support regarding to this problem?
