502 bad gateway :: Help and Tips

502 bad gateway

On the steam desktop application and on web browsers I am unable to access the steam store due to the "502 Bad Gateway" error. I'm in china so no google means I'm struggling to search for help and the discussions search function is... limited.

Any help appreciated

Can't really help about your issue, but can give you a tip.

You can use VPN's, proxies to bypass country restrictions, there's many free providers out there, just be careful never log in into any valuable account while using a FREE VPN / Proxy.

What if I move and want to change my store country to the new location?

Go to your Account Details page where your store country is listed on the right-hand side under Store and Purchase History. Select Update store country. Once you have selected your new country of residence, your store region and Steam Wallet will automatically update to the new region/currency using daily exchange rates. Future purchases must be made with a payment method that matches the new Steam country.

Example scenario: moving from Germany to the United States

Let’s say you’ve recently moved from Germany to the United States. You will then see the United States listed as an option in the Store Region link, in addition to Germany. Selecting it will change your store to display products and pricing available in the United States. To verify your new country of residence, you must complete your next purchase with a payment method tied to an address within the United States.

Temporary Cooldowns:
If the store country has been changed in the last two weeks or a purchase was made in the previous country within the last 48 hours, you will receive a temporary cooldown on your account. The cooldown will prevent you from changing the store country for a period of time.

Note: Steam Support will be unable to assist you with changing your store region.

This is happening to me too, and it's very annoying. I was in China a couple of weeks ago and things were fine, but now it's 502 no matter what i do. Is this something we can fix with DNS?

Urgh, okay to answer my own question. I just pointed my DNS to a server outside of southern China and now connection is working fine again. I suspect this might only be happening regionally in certain parts of China or under certain ISPs.

Is anyone else having a 502 Gateway screen keep popping up?...

is anyone else having a issue with the white screen with 502 gateway coming up whenever you try yo access something like..... inbox or steam workshop... discussions and such?
