Can't run game - "DX11 feature level 11.0 is required to run the engine."
So... i have been using this PC to play Dead by Daylight since 2 years ago and i already have 190 hours on my profile. A couple days ago, my game froze twice in the same day, which had never happened before, so I decided to update my windows and GPU driver, and after that, I have not been able to launch the game because of the issue as titled.

I've tried reinstalling the game, and even reset the pc to factory default and installed eveything else from scratch... and I am still having the same issue. f me... I can't seem to find a fix on google that works, everything I read is saying update the windows and gpu driver, but that's exactly what created the issue in the first place.

The message does not make any sense because i have DX11. My PC's info is below, if anyone can provide some guidance on how to fix this, i will be eternally grateful. Thanks.

Best to ask in the Dead by Daylight Discussion section, they'd know if this is a known issue and how to solve it.

As I have already said... I have been using this PC to play the game since two years ago and have 190 hours on my profile. I know the graphic card supports DX11.

If it really is a R9 280 then it does support DirectX11.
So it could be a driver issue. Have you tried not using the latest driver? Maybe it has a bug on your particular system.

That's weird... because the card has "R9 280 Series" printed in huge text on top. If it didn't support DX11 but the game requires it, I shouldn't have been able to play 190hours with this card. I will try to downgrade the driver and post what I find.

So... I finally figured out what was causing the issue...

I reset the PC a second time and this time the only thing different I did was I installed just the windows update, but not the updated GPU driver or the driver for the USB adapter for my second monition. Once I was able to get into the game, I closed out of the game and installed the driver for my second monitor (not the driver for the graphic card). And after that I was greeted by that same DX11 message again when I tried to launch the game. I deleted that driver again and am now able to open it again.

It is the driver for the second monitor that was causing the problem. I don't know why, maybe it's not compatible with the most updated version of windows 8.1. Now I can play the game, but I also have another problem to look into..:steamfacepalm:

You shouldn't need drivers for monitors unless you have some specific usage for them.

Also since you have such an old video card, you definitely don't need the latest drivers.

Sometimes the latest drivers can indeed mess up. I've heard of strange bugs with driver updates, so this seems like an event that could happen.
Ask any Fermi owner how anything past ~314 went for them until Nvidia finally fixed their drivers.

The driver is for the USB display adapter. Because only one monitor can be connected to the video card, the only other way I can hook up a second monitor is through a USB port via the display adapter.

Ah yeah that's definitely a special use case.

Update: Finally fixed the issue... The USB display adapter (for second monitor) I got is from DisplayLink. I went to their website and downloaded one of their legacy driver and was able to resolve the issue.
