Xbox guide button still launches big picture mode, even when the option is disabled.
I'm using an Xbox Elite v1 controller wirelessly, and every time I hold the guide button to turn it off, it launches Steam's Big Picture mode. It only started doing this recently. Going into controller settings and turning off the option labelled "Guide Button Focuses Steam" doesn't help, as it's always been off. What do I do?

The best way to prevent that is to not not have steam window shown when shutting down controller.
No idea why its still like that.

If you go into the same settings, do you have any other controllers enabled other than Xbox controller? Or do you have some other app that is adding an extra virtual controller like inputmapper?

No other controllers enabled, and while I have DS4Windows installed, it hasn't been running for a long while. None of the "configuration support" boxes are checked in controller settings, if that's important.

Turn of that setting that Big Picture mode gets enabled when using a controller. I haven't seen Big Picture mode since I set up the controller a long time ago.

Where would that be?

Any solution to that?

The solution is to disable Steam's usage of the guide button.

If using Windows 10, go into your Windows settings and check the box for "Open Xbox game bar"

click start > Click on the cog / gear icon > Click on gaming > Then just check the box for "Open Xbox game bar"
https://imgur.com/8vmr3bZ

This will take focus away from Steam client for the guide button, and no your Xbox game bar will not show, or launch because you need to turn it on, if you don't want game bar, leave it off. You only want to check the box for Open game bar that all.

Still happening in 2023, HOW ON EARTH IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE!?

Also the workaround is not working anymore with Windows 11, the option was removed. So what new workaround do we have?

so I did the rebind the controls thing (settings -> controller -> test device input -> setup device inputs, and don't set the guide button.) and after resetting the controls to default for some reason it now works (I have rebound the Xbox button) and steam does obey the "xbox button focuses steam" being disabled.

it does still open the big picture when steam is in focus, but that's easily fixed by not having steam in focus.

also I can't turn on the binding to xbox game bar because I'm using windows N and game bar isn't installed.
