DirectX Always Installing Whenever I Verify Integrity of Game Files of Mafia 2

Hi guys,

So every time I verify the integrity of Mafia 2's game files, DirectX seems to always install itself. At first, I shrugged it off thinking that it was normal. However, when I checked my storage space, I noticed that it was a different amount compared to before verifying the game's files. I tested this again by verifying it once more, and my storage has gone down accordingly. How do I stop this from happening? How do I gain the space that I have lost back?
