Steam account, and e-mail hacked - What to do?
Hey,

Any help is appreciated - as the title says, after a long hiatus from gaming, I came back to no Steam account and when I tried to recover it, I couldn't log on to my e-mail either.

I tried resetting my e-mail's password, but I hadn't linked it to another e-mail, or phone - so I ran in to the same problem, it's seemingly impossible to get in contact with a real human to figure it out, and the pre-designed FAQ's don't help at all.

The e-mail address is literally my last name, so it's pretty obvious it's mine; it has hundreds of hours of CS 1.6 gameplay, and my ten year veteran coin.

It would be really nice to have it back...

I'm assuming I can just prove my identity somehow, and reset the email, and account password - but I need an actual member of the support team to help me with that.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

To get in contact with Steam Support to recover the account open a ticket using the steps in the following link: https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard/HelpWithLogin - Note you have to be signed out.

As for proving it's your account one of the following will do: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5421-QTFB-3090

If you can't recover your email then you need a new one first, then follow this guide (skip step 1):

I missed the hijack bit because of the gap in time. So you also need to do the following steps, provided by Crisp which apply to you:

Originally posted by Cheezus Crisp:
You are being scammed and your account is compromised.

Steps to take NOW:
1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
3. Change passwords from a clean computer
4. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
5. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

Obviously, depending on the time that's past all these might not apply anymore, but it's still important to make sure your account is totally secure.

Also, your account wasn't hacked. Most likely you somehow gave the scammers access to your login details. The usual way is by using shady trading sites.

Thank you guys, that helped. I really appreciate it.

I managed to find the "I no longer have access to this e-mail" option, and have opened a ticket.

And no trading sites Beezzi, I didn't even own any skins other than the ones I got from playing, I've never even opened a crate; function over fashion.

Cheers,
Thanks again
