2 steam accounts, 1 email and a forgotten password

Here's something that could help regarding the issue.

So I had an old account that I didn't use and wanted to get rid of but couldn't access it because I forgot the password. In the meantime I made a second one with the same recovery email so there wasn't an option for me to log in to the old one. The usual way of getting a recovery code via email wouldn't work because it would just reset the password for the second account that I had. So here goes, if you know the Account name for that old one (not the same thing as Profile name) and you have the same email for both, go to steam support from the login window, click on 'I forgot my steam account name or password', then enter a false phone number that way you will get the option to search for your account by your account name and now, if you got it right, you will be given the option to email yourself a verification code for that specific account that you couldn't access, after that you change the password and voilà you have your account back.
Hope it makes sense, maybe there is a simpler way of doing this but I couldn't find anything that helped me much in that moment.

PS. If you don't know the account name nor password, but again you have the same email adress, you can try changing the email for that second account which is accessible, that way you will separate them and you'll be able to request a password change verification code via email that is connected to the inaccessible account.

THANK YOU! This was driving me crazy, i didn't understand what email i used for my older account. Turns out you can use the same email for multiple ones. This trick worked, i used a different email on my newer account so i could reset my older one as well.

OMG THANK YOU!!! I used the website and followed these instructions and I was able to get back into my alternate account that I used the same email with and forgot the password.

Necro'd an old post to bump it and say thank you!

I turned on Steam Guard for this alternate account so I won't have to deal with it again. Very frustrating!

I will try this but me second account is locked through Steam
Guard Any ideas there?
