Please Help. Mic not working in steam voice chat

So my mic for some reason works in-game on Rust but when on voice call through steam with my friend it does not work. I can hear him but he can not hear me. the 'microphone mute' button is dimmed but it doesnt say mic unavailable or anything

I uninstalled the latest windows quality updates and it fixed mine. To do this
Press Win+I to open the Settings app.
Choose Update and Security.
Click the Update History link.
Click the Uninstall Updates link. ...
Choose the update you want to undo. ...
Click the Uninstall button that appears on the toolbar. ...
Follow the directions provided on the screen.

I have the same thing, all my friends can hear one another but they can't hear me and I don't hear them. Mic test works in steam and the bar moves and everything. Voice chatting works in other programs.

Tried uninstalling updates I've had since voice last worked for me but no luck sadly. :/

yeah im not too sure then. maybe just keep playing around with steam settings. like push to talk and puhs to mute. hopefulyy fixes its self
