This sounds like you just want to do something. But chances are the account used to scam you was hijacked anyway, so now you'd probably just be hassling another victim. And steamrep doesn't actually mean anything... it's made up and anyone who trusts it is a fool.
Well the guy took a lot of my money, and i know that the account wasn't hijacked because they scammed multiple people and some of those people contacted me because i posted my story. steamrep is amazing because valve usually doesn't do much stuff about scams.

Where's the rule that a scammer can't hijack an account and scam multiple people before it's recovered? I think you might lack some imagination or understanding how scams and scammers operate.

If you say so. I'm going to maintain Steamrep doesn't do anything but offer a false sense of security, because I can't tell you the number of victims who explain they trusted a scammer because the account had high steamrep... people with high steam rep get their accounts hijacked too. And those accounts are definitely used by scammers to scam people foolish enough to trust steamrep...
Oh ok sorry then

All I am saying is I understand you wanting to get even, get back at someone who hurt you. In this specific scenario maybe not as realistic as you're hoping. Around 2006 I got an email account hijacked because of bad password habits, and I recovered the account, but the hijacker kept taking it back because of a loophole with recovery links. Where he'd take control of the account, immediately send himself a recovery link and when I'd take the account back he'd just use the recovery link. I eventually figured this out and started doing the same thing back to him.

The hilarious thing was even though he was doing that exact thing the hijacker couldn't imagine that I had figured the same trick out. And couldn't understand how I kept taking the account back just as fast as he was. In the end I had to abandon the account because I couldn't break the stalemate and hotmail support didn't seem able to do anything about abuse of account recovery links. I still think about it sometimes and how irritating it was.

I learned a lesson or two, but getting even wasn't in the cards. It's the internet and it's got sharp edges and very little recourse against bad actors. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and in most cases cure is on back order indefinitely when it comes to the Internet.

"an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" wow such a nice quote. thanks for telling your story, you're so wise too.
