Far Cry Primal - Activation code on uplay?
I have just purchased Far Cry Primal on steam and I have a uplay account. My firewalls are all fine and I'm running the most up-to-date version of uplay and the steam game. When I try to run Far Cry Primal I'm asked for an activation key. I have no received any key.

I've scrawled forums and lots of people have said "right click on the game in library and look for CD key" there is no such option and I've found dozens of people on forums who support this observation. A lot of people (including ubisoft in one thread) has said that we don't require a key and that the game should install and activate itself. Well it doesn't. It's asking for a key and I don't have one.

I paid £40 for this as a late birthday present. Literally the only thing I've spent on myself recently and I've just had my money stolen effectively. I can run this game and I've followed the procedures properly. I read so many people have this issue but I can't seem to fix it.

Are you running the game thru steam or uplay

You have to update uplay but you have to still launch teh game through steam. Steam will auto authetntixcate and add the key to your uplay account

Thank you for the reply I really appreciate it. Unfortunately I've read these words elsewhere. I've tried running it through steam and through uplay. When i run it through steam it just takes me into the uplay interface and asks for the activation code again. I'm at a loss.

What's worse is that it says I've been playing for 55 minutes! I haven't. I won't even be able to get a refund at this rate. They're going to steal my money and no game.

Hi all! Doing the following should resolve the issue (note that you don't need a key, it should activate automatically):

1) In your task manager, find the following process: UbisoftGameLauncher.exe, and end the process.
2) After that, uninstall and reinstall Uplay PC from uplay.ubi.com This will update the client.
3) Launch the game again from Steam.

If you are still having issues activating the game, please go to our Support site[support.ubi.com] and open a ticket with our technical team! Thank you.

I've uninstalled uplay and reinstalled it three times to no effect. Each time I've exited uplay by simply pressing X and it disappearing, it's gone from task bar, does ending process not equate to the same thing?

I'm following it word for word. Currently verifying game cache after deleting the exact file it specified.

I really appreciate your time dude.

Okay it's not asked me for the activation code but it just simply says "Far Cry Primal has stopped working" then an option to close or search online for a solution. I click search online, it loads for a bit then closes itself.

- Log out of Steam
- Log out of uPlay
- Closed both programs
- Relaunched uPlay as admin and log in
- Relaunched Steam as admin and log in

I'd also reboot your pc. Uplay can be fussy

This hasn't done anything. Deleting that file and verifying game cache has stopped the activation screen but now I'm just being told "it's stopped working" find a solution or close except find a solution doesn't take me anywhere. Maybe that file it asked me to delete was important..

No, that file has already been replaced with a fresh copy. At this stage you should maybe be going back to UbiSoft for more technical assistance with the game itself as the Steam side of it appears to be sorted.

This would probably be a good time to remind you of the terms of the refund policy. You're already half way through the 2 hour maximum play time allowed under the policy, so you probably only have about another 45-50 minutes of testing time left before you have to decide if you're going to get a refund or persevere with it. Hopefully you'll have it fixed before you have to make that choice.

The thing is how can I even be assured of a refund? I've bought loads of games from steam over the years that just don't run. I worry that if I'm seen as "that guy" who is constantly asking for refunds on everything that I'll be taken less-seriously.

I want my money back but I also want the game. I've been looking forward to this game for so long. Even if I got my money back and bought a physical disk version I imagine I would probably have more issues verifying that with ubisoft. They are my favourite developer but some of their software ruins the lives of their fans by taking their money :/

The refund system will give you an automatic refund on anything that you've owned for less than two weeks and played for less than two hours providing you're not abusing the refund system - and if you were then you'd have already had a message saying that you're maybe refunding too many games.

In any case, your next stop should maybe be UbiSoft's Tech Support.

Does anyone know if (assuming I got my money back) I bought a retail disk version I would need to do the same uplay palava?
