Reposting Reviews
Hey, all,

I would like to know if there's a way to repost a review so that it actually shows up on "Recent Reviews" in the store. Right now, what happens is that when I update one of my reviews it just shows as "Posted [original date] . . . Updated [new date]", but I think Steam still treats it as if the review belongs to the original date that it was written so it doesn't count as a "recent review."

I've been getting more into writing detailed and legitimately helpful reviews so I'd like my contributions to actually show up.

Things I've tried already:
-Editing the review then saving changes
-Unrecommending/recommending and ticking the box for "I received this product for free" and saving changes then reverting to see if anything would happen
-Removing the review entirely and posting a new review

The only way is to delete the review and then publish it again. Old reviews even updated through editing wont be boosted back to the top. If the original review was very helpful; it'll still be visible if users search for all time helpful ones.

I'm not entirely sure what happenes if you update a review, but I think your assumption that it doesn't go to back to the recent reviews page is probably correct. Otherwise if you delete it and repost it, Steam should treat it as a new review. It might take a bit of time to go to the front page though. I've noticed in some cases my reviews take a while to appear at all to the general public.

@J4MESOX4D: I've tried deleting and reposting before.
@Ashes: Hmm, ok, well if both of you folks believe that is the solution (deleting then reposting with a delay), I'll try to do that. I'll update you with the results.

Thanks for the prompt responses.

No prob, but if you already have a lot of upvotes, i suggest keeping it, as it'll reach more people that way.

Yep, definitely--I'll keep that in mind, thanks again!

Deleted my review about 30 minutes ago to repost and see if that would be enough time. Seems to not work:

I've deleted again and will wait 24 hrs and see if that is enough.

Did you ever figure out a way to repost a review so that the original review date is renewed? I wrote a review for a game and deleted that review over a year and a half ago and the original post date still shows as being in 2015 now that I've written a new review for it. It's ridiculous.

I never figured out a way, sorry. I waited around 2 weeks after deleting it before I reposted a new one and there's still no change in the date. I checked the store page and it doesn't show up as a recent review either, so it's pretty much never going to be read.

I guess we'll just have to wait til ValvE gets their ♥♥♥♥ together for updating a cohesive review structure. Otherwise, we're pretty much locked down to just never reviewing a game until we're 100% sure that is the one we'll stick with.

I'm pretty sure they do it this way on purpose, to prevent people from constantly deleting and reposting their reviews to keep them on the front page.

Yeah, I understand the reasoning behind that which makes a lot of sense. But, I mean, when you wait for 1 year (like @Odysseus did) and your review is still dated to way back in 2015, I'm sure anyone could agree that he's not just reposting to bump the review.

I feel like maybe after a 6 month period or so the reviews should just be able to republished (Recent Reviews show the most recent 30 days, so I think a 180 day wait would be reasonable).

You may think that but users will abuse any system to be at the top/front area.
Satoru Aug 12, 2017 @ 7:28pm
People were abusing the deletion reposting of reviews to troll devs and keep their reviews "at the top"

Steam is unlikely to revert back to that system given its abuse
