Can you get banned for sharing your account?
Every now and then I let my little brother play TF2 on my account. Can anything happen from that? I know that some games and game platforms have strict rules against sharing your account.

Probably not account banned, but banned from TF2 yes. If your brother cheats or griefs people.

I only let him play training with bots, and with me in the room.

Team Fortress 2 is a free-to-play game, and Steam accounts are free. Much safer to just have your brother register his own account.
Well because I did some more research and people are saying that account sharing in any way is against the rules.

So should I expect to be banned? And What type of ban would it be?

not bannable and nobody really cares including valve, and they dont have a way to detect this.

Bannable is cheating and so on

Well, I mean, I just admitted to it. And if it is not bannable then why is their a very specific rule against it?

Valve has means to find out. They usually lock them out of purchases, trading, market, adding friends, redeeming keys...

But the worst that can really happen is your brother doing something bad on your account and it getting punished.

But again, what is the point of that rule if there is no punishment? Some people are saying it can be punished, some saying otherwise, can I get a agreed upon answer? This type of stuff triggers my anxiety, I just need to know if getting banned from this is possible or not.

I would highly doubt Steam would ban your account because you let your brother play some TF2 while you took a break or something.

What they are actively discouraging are the accounts being shared by multiple people to avoid the cost of games, accounts that have been bought and sold to others, etc. You randomly letting your brother hop on isn't really noteworthy at all.

I would still encourage getting an account of his own seeing as how TF2 is free to play. That way he can't accidentally do something while on your own account that might warrant you a ban or something.

They can and have on occasion in the past.

Ultimately, it is for you to decide if you want to risk the punishments, whether it be from Valve or your brother.

What type of ban would be given?

I would think there's more to those stories than having a younger sibling hop in big brother's chair for a few minutes, though.

Account locks.

Not by the support replies that were shown. But it has been a year or two since I've seen anyone complain about it here.

Just make another account for your brother to play on. Eliminate whatever possibility might exist.

Again, we're getting one side of the story though which we always know is spun to sound completely innocent.
