Replacing my PS4 controller with something else
I'm looking for a better controller than my PS4. The thumbstick does make my thumb go numb and I just don't use the touchpad for mapping in steam as much as I thought I would. Also, it's d-pad is better than the XBO d-pad, but still not nearly as good as the d-pad on a lot of other controllers.

So I want dual analog and a fantastic d-pad.

This has me looking at the 8bitdo SN30 Pro and SN30 Pro+, and also the PS2 controller. I don't think the button remapping, macros, or other software related features of the Pro+ are going to be useful to me, nor the removable battery pack, since I have the skills to open up and replace an internal battery pack anyway. But are L2/R2 on the standard Pro analog? If not, that'd make racing games a bit difficult. If I use the PS2, it at least has pressure sensitive buttons I could do something with. But are L2/R2 pressure sensitive as well, or just the face buttons? And finding a good, or new production PS2 style controller that isn't cheap garbage could be a chore.

I've narrowed it down to getting an original PS2 controller, or the 8bitdo SN30 pro.

I think the PS2 controllers L2/R2 buttons were analog because I'm pretty sure that's how you did pullups in MGS2 and 1st-person prone peeking in MGS3.

They are pressure sensitive, so yeah. L1/L2 and the four face buttons were analog as well. Same is true for the PS3 controller. I remember playing Warthunder on a PS3 controller mapping the X and O buttons to axis' for throttle and brake so i could play Warthunder like it was Ace Combat.

I notice a very popular mod for PS4 and XBO controllers is to reduce over travel, essentially turning their triggers into buttons. Analog triggers are more of a downside for everything that isn't a racing or flying game. The PS2 controller gives you the best of both worlds.

I play only on PC, and bought the PS4 controller to remap in Steam to different things, but MOST PC games have native controller support that do not use it. So far, only Call of Duty Warzone I've played with native PS4 support on PC that actually used the touchpad, and even then it was just click for the map.
I just got a PS2 controller, I'll have to get an adapter for it.
