Getting the Steam overlay to work with Origin games

I'm a bit baffled right now as I have in the past been able to get the overlay to work with Origin games in the past (Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition), but after the recent update to Origin I cannot seem to get it to work to take screenshots.

The most confusing part is it thinks Origin itself is the game, which the overlay works for, but when I go to jump into a game, the overlay does not work anymore. I've disabled the overlay and every other feature in game that Origin would use in game and it still won't work. I really do not want to use a third party screenshot capture software as Steam is easy for me to use (I just set the screen capture as the insert key).

I should note that I am able to get the overlay to work with Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age Origins and Dragon Age 2, but unable for Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition

I have read that using MSI Afterburner is a valid way of taking screenshots, but I am warry of using other programs aside from Steam for this. I'm not sure if it's on EA's end with the new update to Origin or on Valve's end.

Just disable Origin In-game and Steam overlay will start working again.

If you read my post, you would have seen that I have disabled the Origin in-game feature and the overlay still does not work on games, but on the program itself (launching a game even after that does not have the overlay working)

Are you making sure that you have fully closed the Origin client before launching the EA game through Steam?

I also get the Steam in-game popup when using the Origin client, but the interface still works when using a game.

The client is closed and the overlay still will not appear. Everytime I hit shift+tab nothing appears in game.

I open the game through Steam, without opening Origin first and still nothing.
