Steam detecting controller

Steam seems to think I have a controller plugged in, even though I only have a mouse and a keyboard. In games such as geometry dash and mirrors edge it shows controller buttons instead of keys. Please help... this is getting really annoying.

It's the game, not Steam. Disable the "Use controller" setting n the game, if possible.

Yupp. Certain - often ported games from consoles are trying to "force" a controller on you. Simply disable it, or get a gamepad. Its very useful in some games.

I couldn't find a way to disable controllers in-game, and I have seen friends playing these games without the controller icons. Also, in big picture mode steam detects XInput Controller. Is this normal?

No. That means that you installed some controller emulating software. The one that I remember from the top of my head is an Android remote.
Uninstall the controller emulator.

Weird, don't remember installing any emulators, but ended up finding one and uninstalling it fixed the problem. Thanks for the help!

Ok so i know its been YEARS since somebody made a reply here but i have no emulator so idk but theres stupid little xbox buttons in geometry dash and I HATE IT.
