Can't access Steam whilst connected to hotspot

A few weeks ago I was able to hotspot my iPhone XR to my laptop to play games. This week, however, I haven't been able to open the steam client and it tells me it's unable to connect. From here I can go into offline mode, but that's about it. When connected to any other wifi or hotspot (someone else's phone, same model) I am able to run steam and play games, just not through my phone. However, even though I can't access steam, I have full internet access and other game clients run fine.... I've tried everything I can think of and find to troubleshoot but not having any luck. I've tried restarting both the phone and laptop, reinstalling steam, re-configuring network settings, pouring through client settings and changing firewall settings. I haven't been able to get through to Apple at all for the last week and now it's the weekend, stuck at home with no way to play online with my friends.

Any help would be appreciated, as far as I know, I can't port forward on the iphone either, so I'm kind of lost....

hotspots are pretty bad for playing games, i've found that even if i have 5G hotspot, I can't connect or play online games, but might be able to browse the web. Not sure what causes this, but maybe don't use hotspot for Steam.

did you fixed this problem? I can play PUBG using my TIM hotspot as long as its not work time.

Yes, turns out it was an iPhone issue as the latest update seems to have fixed it..
