CD key without installing?
So I played AC Odyssey when Ubisoft had it on play for free for 4 days and I didn't finish the entire thing. It required an activation key to continue the game when the trial was over. Since I use Steam more than I use UPlay, I bought it on Steam (which had the same sale) and was going to just ctrl c + ctrl v the activation code. After purchase, it didn't show me the CD Key. Another thread on Steam says I need to install the game in order to get the activation key. Is there anyway I can just get the CD key without installing the game?

Ubisoft no longer gives out product keys. Anyway, even if they did, you still must download and play the game through Steam.

No. You don't need the key anyways. Just make sure you have the most current version of Uplay installed, start the game on Steam and log into that Uplay account.

but I can't start the game on Steam without first installing it?

How can you start something that isn't installed?

I have an already-installed AC Odyssey on my desktop right now that I downloaded and installed via UPlay (for the trial). I'm asking if there's another way I can get the CD Key from my steam game without installing another copy of AC Odyssey.

The game on Uplay is a Uplay only version. You need to down load the game on Steam to play the version here.

:'( ... will my save file be on the steam version? I mean the trial did sync to UPlay on every log-out so I assume but...

Savegame will work fine.

For those who are looking back at this trying to find an answer. I found it. The Ubisoft did not sync. You can still keep your save file though!

Here is what I did:

1. Got to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\(whatever file you see)

2. click on it and you should see a folder (or a few)

3. THE TRIAL VERSION OF AC ODYSSEY IS UNDER 5059 (click on the folder "5059")

4. find the most recent save file

5. copy that file (ctrl C)

6. click back

6. If you bought the game on steam and now have a legit full version of AC Odyssey. That legit full version's save files will be saved under a folder "5092"

7. Go into 5092 and paste (ctrl V) --> if there is another file in there, that's cause you opened the game and the game started to save your new game --> to keep your previous trial's save games, just delete anything inside it and then ctrl V)

Have fun playing :DDDD
