Display Problems (FPS Drop and maybe a little bit of input lag from that)
Let me get something straight, I am not a professional computer hardware guy. But, I've been facing problems with my new monitor. It is a 3440 x 1440 supposedly has 144hz. The first problem I encountered was the ratio and screen sizing, I am still using extended screen because the monitor uses the laptop's ratio and stuff. When I use only screen 2 it will make it look flat and distorted. The next problem I encountered was low fps and input lag in r6. I was able to take away input lag somehow but the FPS not only in R6 but in many other games was slow too. I bought this 120hz cable last week, it helped a little bit but with the consistency of high fps unlike the other one which wasn't consistent. I thought like maybe by using the extended screen (win + p) is lowering the FPS and increasing the GPU or CPU usage because there are two screens. My laptop is a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and a Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630. i7-8750H. I tried updating a few of the drivers in the top (task manger), there wasn't significant change. When I was using the laptop's monitor the FPS and the input was very smooth but after I plugged it into the 3440x1440 monitor the problems started flying at me. Please help!

You do realize that a huge usage on your GPU right if you're using the 3440x1440 monitor to game on such as R6, and whatever demanding game. There no such thing of a cable called 120hz, there cables called HDMI 2.0 / 2.1, Display Cable 1.2, or better. Normally monitors comes with the cable in the box that able to handle what is marketed for, such as 144hz.

What FPS are you getting?
What settings are you using in game?

Also just letting you know there is thing you will face.
- Possible heating issues if there is over heating, you need to use a hardware monitor software to display this to you if you're overheating.
- Possible max out usage on hardware, where it's not possible to get any more performance due to the hardware you're using, if in this case you need better system, if you want more performance.

1050s can't handle 3440x1440 resolution especially at 144hz.

^This. The GTX 1050 Ti is not meant for things above 1920x1080 really, but if trying to, you need to lower settings, and even screen resolution in game.

Thank you Dr.Shadowds, I might just switch monitors with my dad since his one looks cooler anyway. I did find that lowering the graphics on r6 increased the FPS of the game. The little dial is white and doesn't seem to be affected by the screen ratio and size. I mean, the game is still very much 'playable' with around 35-60 FPS. My dad's one is a 1920x1080 but the higher resolution one (4K). I also have this Samsung one (normal tv monitor thing) borrowed from the university which is definitely 1920x1080.
Should I try to upgrade my GeForce card or just sell this monitor and get a 1920x1080.
If you bought the monitor and hasn't been over 14 days, just return it for a refund with the receipt. You can always just set the resolution on the monitor to 2560 x 1080, or lower if you can, what you have is an ultra wide monitor, not a common standard monitor that most people have.

If you're dead set on selling it, try to get close to what you bought it for, if you can but TBH just keep it for future use, if you get a better system in the future, which I would recommend a desktop as they have better hardware options than laptop for the same price.
What if I try to upgrade the Geforce on my laptop? Is there a specific card I should get? I'm not sure if I can even switch it yet anyways. But I would like to know.
I doubt you're able to change the GPU on your laptop as most laptops do not have this option, and are solder.

Updating your video drivers will not resolve your issues really as this is a hardware limitation, not a software issue.
Thanks guys, you were great help to me!
