Can't login to Steam store & community through client
For the past week or so I haven't been able to log in to steam store via the steam client.
Just get an error saying "There was an error communicating with the Steam servers. Please try again later."

To be clear, I can log into the steam client and play my games like usual. Just the store and community services that are unavailable.

I can log in through my browser, but in the steam client I can't log in. This wouldn't be a problem if it didn't prevent things like in-game purchases etc.
I haven't reinstalled the steam client yet, but I've tried just about anything else I can think of. Anyone have any suggestions here?

Edit: Yes, I have tried turning off my AV and firewall, didin't help.

Things you can give a try that might fix your issues.

- Restart Steam, or Restart PC.

- Modem / Router need a reboot.

- If you did anything in the Modem / Router settings, check your work to ensure you're not blocking things.

- If using some 3rd party software that manage incoming, and outgoing data on system, that may cause issues.

- If connecting to private VPN / DNS networks, they may also cause issues.

- Clear cache and cookies, Steam > settings > Web browser > Delete both cache and cookies.

- Run Steam as Admin.

- Try opt in, or out of Steam beta, top left corner, click on Steam > settings > account > click on button change, and either opt in, or out of beta.

- Reinstalling Steam, to keep games, and screenshots, head to where you install Steam, move these two folders, "Steamapp" and "Userdata" move these two folders outside the Steam folder, once done that, uninstall Steam, ensure Steam folders gone, if not delete it, then reinstall Steam, run it to download client, don't login just exit out of Steam, move back the "Steamapp" and "Userdata" folder back into Steam folder, if ask if want to replace click yes, and now launch Steam, and test to see if issue resolved.

I have tried every step in this except for the reinstall.
Reinstalling is the next step, but it seems like a hassle if I want to not lose saves etc., so I want to see if there are alternate solutions before I try that.

Check my edit above, also the steps I provided, you won't lose saves, as normally saves are somewhere else such as "my documents", "my documents > my games", or save files be in the same folder where the game folder is at, which is Steamapp > common > "insert game folder title" so the folders you're moving is Steamapp, and userdata folder, move these two specifically outside Steam folder so they don't get deleted when you uninstall. Follow the steps I had provided above if you want to try the reinstall option.

Router should be fine since there aren't any problems using browser to access steam.
Not using any VPN, and I've tried disabling my AV and firewall to no avail.

Also, regardless of everything else, I sincerely appreciate your efforts.

Forgot to post this.
- Enable URL, to do this, to the top left side of client, click on "Steam" > "Settings" > "Interface", and check the box for "Display Steam URL address bar when available. Now you have an address bar, with a refresh button, the refresh button will be to the left side of the URL address, click on the refresh button, and it will refresh the page, may need to do it 1 - 3 times.

I can confirm that reinstalling client and running with admin and - tcp in the shortcut does not work.

Cannot login through client OR broswer. Replying using the app.

I had the same error before I reinstalled the client. I could only access Steam in offline mode like OP. Reinstalled client and then could not login. Same error as before.

If you're having connection issues to the server not being able to login to the client, then check this out, as well read the 1st post in this dicussion, best of luck. https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/1/3826311001000622489/#c3826311001000708377

If servers having issues, then this may be your answer and have to wait until it resolved. https://steamstat.us/

Update: Tried reinstalling Steam, twice, while removing steam folders from appdata.
Also tried in safe mode, still no dice.

No idea what the problem is, since I can log in just fine in my browser, and my client can connect just fine.

Edit: Problem is in our home network. Laptop has same issues when on wi-fi, but no issues if using a mobile hotspot.
No idea what it is, though. Router reboot doesn't do anything.

Problem solved, for now at least. Power cycling the router did what no amount of soft reboots could, apparently.

I can log onto steam on my browser but when i try to open the application it says that my email or pw is wrong. i have changed my pw several times and reinstalled steam. this started after i did a clean install of windows 10. I don't know if that makes a difference. It's been like this for about 4 days. I really would like access to my games again.

Any help would be appreciated.
