High Ping for basically no reason!!!!!
Hello, I'm your average gamer, but, I have high ping. I get (500+) ping on games like CS: GO and other games like that, I have 200mbps internet with Comcast, and I've had no issues with them, then, My Laptop is connected with a CAT 6 Ethernet Cable directly to the router. I've done all the steps people say to do, but I'm still getting high ping. Please, help me. Also, if you have an answer, say the answer in simple terms please, thank you.

Well, average gamer. Have you checked your Steam client settings? In particular your download region?

Firstly, try verifying the game cache files. Right click on the game in your library, open properties, go to "local files" tab, and select the last option "verify integrity of game cache". Let it complete. reboot and launch the game.

Then when you have opened the game, go to settings, then game settings, in the first few options you will see "Max acceptable traffic bandwidth". Set that to something high, or select unrestricted. And increase your "max acceptable ping" to 70

Also do a speedtest and check your ping there. If that's in the hundreds too, your local service may just be getting hammered by everyone being home.

Thank you all, and Washell, I ranged from 8 - 16 ms ping.
