Specifically in my case I VPN'ed into my work computer and was able to login on it, and then I was magically able to login on my primary PC. But using the browser on your phone may work. I'm not clear if a separate device or separate internet connection is the important component. So if you were to use your phone I'd recommend using your cellular connection as opposed to wifi shared with the PC. What I read suggest just a new device will do, but I don't have direct experience to confirm that.
But if you try some variation please post your results to help clarify my knowledge and maybe help others when they happen to see this post in a google search in three years.
But yeah, it's wonky behavior and a bit of a bonkers solution. Even as a developer I'm a bit mystified by this behavior. Beforehand, I did all the normal stuff I would do if I was developing and needed to clear cookies and sessions and whatnot, which suggests a server side edge case issue I guess.
First of all, the time-frame is completely undocumented, and it's different per case.
Sometimes, it extends to 24 hours, and in some instances, weeks.
To get around the "cooldown", you need to get a IP changed using the method required for the type of IP address that you use.
I don't believe that's true. While it's certainly possible that my cooldown expired the moment I engaged in logging into the website via new device, it would be extremely coincidental as logging in had just failed a minute previously.
IE you may not need a new IP, just something with a different IP and lots of people have access to multiple devices with different IPs.
I'm not sure I understand. What I suggested you do is
I mean it should be a one time thing and takes like two minutes including a bathroom break, so not sure where the annoyance comes from if it works and you never have to do it again...
