Pre-loaded game attempting to update every few minutes
Is it normal for Steam to attempt to update a preloaded game, in this case DOOM Eternal? I've seen the behavior in a previous Steam preload too.

Could it be because the Steam Client is checking for a release in case the publisher unlocks earlier?

I see my download status blinking every few minutes while idle. Makes me think the client is polling the servers for an update.

Manually updating causes it to schedule the next attempt in 5 minutes.

I haven't had any technical issues as a result, just seeing the client ping every few minutes. I allow downloads during gameplay.
